Responsibility
We care about our community. We strive to be active contributors both as a Society and in our private lives. We want to see our Society grow, and our region grow and our community mature. However, it is not just about giving public displays and talks.
Our values determine how we behave when fossil hunting. When on field trips, we respect the land and the natural environment regardless of whether it is private or crown-owned. Permission is always requested before crossing someone's land. We pack out what we pack in, and leave a clean site behind us.
We never take so much from any site that would affect its value to science. We are hesitant to divulge too much information to avoid commercial collecting or unscrupulous collectors.
Our hobby activities are not a source of income. We strongly promote our members to respect the BC Government's position on fossil collecting.
